The Begunia Temple Complex at Barakar is a group of four 13th-century stone temples built in the rekha deula style associated with Odisha. The shrines are dedicated to Ganesha, Kali, Durga, and Siddheshvari, and their tall curving towers make them stand out from the industrial landscape around Asansol.
They are modest in scale but historically important, especially if you are interested in eastern Indian temple architecture. Combine them with nearby Maithon Dam or Kalyaneshwari Temple rather than making a single-purpose trip.
