The principal temple of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the town, in the heart of old Nabadwip. The current building is modern but the vigraha — the brass image — is one of the oldest Vaishnava deities in Bengal. Devotees come at first light to darshan and again for the evening kirtan, when the building fills with drums, cymbals, and the long Bengali Hare Krishna chant.
The surrounding lanes are dense with smaller maths and the sweet shops famous for kheer-er chop and Nabadwip-er lal doi. Easy to spend an unhurried morning here.
