Nabadwip is a pilgrimage town first and a sightseeing town only by extension. The visitor day is mostly a walking circuit between temples, monastery maths, and the riverside ghats where Chaitanya is said to have danced and chanted with his followers in the 1510s. Across the Bhagirathi on the eastern bank lies the vast ISKCON complex at Mayapur — the second indispensable destination.
Most temples open early — six or seven in the morning is the right time to arrive — close in the heat of the afternoon, and reopen for evening aarti at sunset. Modest dress, cover your head if asked, and leave shoes at the entrance. Photography is restricted in many sanctums.
