Krishnanagar, 20 km north, is the historic seat of the Maharajas of Nadia and the place where the local Krishna-Nagar-style clay figurines are made. The Rajbari (royal palace) is a faded but atmospheric stop; the famous sarbhaja sweets at Adhar Chandra are a different style of Bengali sweet entirely from the Nabadwip ones.
Kolkata is two to three hours away by train, a reasonable day trip from Nabadwip with an early start and a late return.
