The shrine identified by Bhaktivinoda Thakur in 1894 as the precise birthplace of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu — a salmon-and-cream temple just east of the ISKCON main compound. Inside is a small dark room said to be the actual chamber in which Chaitanya was born to Sachi Devi and Jagannath Misra in 1486.
The identification is the foundation of the modern Mayapur tradition. Whether it is the historical birthplace or the symbolic one, it is treated as the holiest spot in the entire complex by Gaudiya devotees worldwide.
