Baturraden Adventure Forest (BAF) is an outdoor activity park set in the montane forest above the main Baturraden resort area, at around 800–900 metres on the slopes of Mount Slamet. It offers zip lines of varying lengths through the forest canopy, tree-walk platforms, abseiling, and guided nature trails that pass through stands of pine and tropical montane woodland. The park is run commercially and caters primarily to school groups and domestic tourists looking for something more active than the hot springs.
The longest zip line runs a few hundred metres through forest with views across the Banyumas plain on clear mornings. The tree-walk circuit, built at canopy height, is the more interesting attraction for adults — the forest here has good birdlife and the elevation means temperatures are cool enough to make walking comfortable. The park entrance is a short distance above the main Lokawisata Baturraden park; transport options are the same (angkot from Purwokerto, or chartered motorcycle taxi). Bring closed shoes — the trails are uneven and can be muddy after rain.
