Solo has its own distinct cuisine, notably nasi liwet — rice cooked slowly in coconut milk and served with vegetables, egg, and spiced coconut flakes. The city is also known for its solo-style serabi (rice-flour pancakes) and the sweet rice porridge called bubur yang. Eating well in Solo is easy and cheap.
