Solo is served by Adi Soemarmo International Airport, about 15 km north of the city centre. The airport has direct connections to Jakarta, Bali, and several other Indonesian cities, with international connections via Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
By train, Solo Balapan station is the main railway station, with frequent services to Yogyakarta (1 hour), Jakarta (6-8 hours by express), and Surabaya (5 hours). The train between Solo and Yogyakarta is one of the most convenient connections in Java — regular, cheap, and reliable. A separate Prambanan Express service also runs between the two cities and stops near the major temple sites.
Intercity buses are also available but slower and less comfortable than trains for most routes.
