Getting Around

Palembang has a modern elevated LRT line that runs from the airport into the city centre, crossing the Musi River just east of the Ampera Bridge. It is cheap, air-conditioned, and the most stress-free way to cover longer distances.

For shorter trips, Grab and Gojek (ride-hailing apps) work well and remove the need to negotiate fares. Older blue Transmusi city buses still run but are slow. To see the river side of the city, hire a ketek (small wooden river taxi) at the jetty just east of the Ampera Bridge — agree the route and price before boarding.
