The Palembang Mayoral Office is worth a look if you are already exploring the riverside core of the city. Built in the early twentieth century, the building mixed municipal offices with a water-tower function and was once the tallest structure in Palembang.
Its clean modern lines show the influence of De Stijl architecture, an unusual note among the city's mosques, forts, and riverfront landmarks. You do not need long here, but it pairs naturally with Kuto Besak Fortress, the Great Mosque, and the Ampera Bridge.
