Shorabil Lake sits just south of the city, a shallow salt lake ringed by a green belt that functions as Ardabil's main recreation area. Local families gather here on warm evenings — couples paddle out in pedal boats, vendors sell sunflower seeds and ice cream, and the boardwalk fills with strollers from late afternoon until dark.
The water has a high mineral content and is reputed to have therapeutic properties for skin conditions. A loop path runs about four kilometres around the lake, with shaded benches and views back across the water to the city and the mountains. It is not dramatic scenery — it is gentle, social, and exactly the kind of place that makes Ardabil feel lived-in rather than just historic.
