Late May through September is the practical window. July and August are warm and dry — ideal for trekking on Sabalan and for sitting out at Shorabil Lake in the evenings. Winters are severe, with heavy snow and temperatures regularly well below freezing; the road from Tabriz can close briefly after big storms. Spring brings rain and mud but also wildflowers across the Mughan steppe.
