Netanya's dining is much more about quantity and variety than about high-end gastronomy. The promenade and the streets around Independence Square are stuffed with Mediterranean grill houses, Italian places, sushi bars, and the inevitable falafel stands. The French immigrant population means several legitimately good French bistros and patisseries. Sabbath observance is patchy — many places stay open on Friday night and Saturday.
