When to Go

The shoulder months — April, May, October, and early November — are the most pleasant: warm days, swimmable sea, and significantly cheaper hotel rates than peak summer. July and August are hot (around 30°C) and very humid, and the beaches and promenade fill up with Israeli holidaymakers.

Winter, from December to March, is mild but wet, with most rainfall coming in short heavy bursts. The sea is too cold to swim by January but the city remains pleasant for walking. The Coastal Iris reserve is at its best in late February.
