The Nihon Ukiyo-e Hakubutsukan, on the western edge of the city, holds the Sakai family's collection of more than 100,000 ukiyo-e woodblock prints — one of the largest private holdings in the world. Only a small selection is on view at any one time, rotated through themed exhibitions; the building is small but the prints are first-rate.
Getting there is half the project: a 15-minute taxi or a 25-minute walk from the nearest station, in a quiet residential area. Closed Mondays.
