Fukiya Bengara Village

Fukiya Bengara Village is an Edo-period mountain village known for the burnt-orange colour of its traditional houses. The colour comes from bengara, an iron-oxide pigment once produced in the area and used on the walls, lattices, and roof details.

It is one of the most atmospheric side trips from Takahashi, especially if you like historic streets that still feel lived in rather than staged. Some buildings are shops or small museums, while others are best enjoyed from the outside as you walk the old lanes.
