Located in Tama-ku in northern Kawasaki, this museum is dedicated to Fujiko Fujio — the pen name used by the duo who created Doraemon, Perman, and a host of other beloved Japanese manga characters. The interior is designed to feel like stepping into the world of the comics: the staff wear costumes from the manga, the cafe serves robot-shaped cookies, and the reading room stocks the complete collected works for visitors to browse.
Highlights include original manuscripts with handwritten corrections, scale models of famous settings, and an exclusive short film screened only here and changed regularly. The rooftop garden has sculptural reproductions of manga scenes. Advance tickets are mandatory — the museum sells timed-entry slots online, and walk-in visitors are almost never admitted. From Shinjuku, it takes about 30 minutes by train to Noborito Station, then a shuttle bus.
