Kamado Jigoku is one of Beppu's famous "hells", the geothermal show pools around Kannawa that are for looking at rather than bathing in. It has steaming ponds, vivid mineral colours, hot vents, and a slightly theatrical presentation that leans into Beppu's old-fashioned spa-town showmanship.
It works best as part of a hells circuit rather than a standalone stop. The fun is in comparing them: Umi Jigoku feels broad and blue, Chinoike Jigoku is all red mineral drama, and Kamado Jigoku adds a compact set of boiling, steaming displays with plenty of character.
