Oita Marine Palace Aquarium, usually called Umitamago, is the main aquarium for the Beppu and Oita coast. It has large marine tanks, family-friendly exhibits, and regular animal shows, including walruses and dolphins.
The aquarium is an easy half-day change of pace from Beppu's hot springs, especially for families or rainy days along the bay.
