Ahmadi Park

Ahmadi Park is one of the largest parks in Kuwait and one of the most unexpected sights in the country — a genuinely green, shaded expanse of lawn, trees, and walkways that feels almost surreal against the backdrop of the surrounding desert. The Kuwait Oil Company planted and irrigated it from the town's earliest days, understanding that liveable green space was essential for attracting and retaining international staff. The result is a park with mature trees that have had decades to grow, providing real shade that most of Kuwait simply lacks.

The park is popular with Ahmadi's residents year-round, though it is at its best between November and March when temperatures are comfortable and families spread out across the grass. There are walking paths, benches, and children's play areas, and on weekday mornings it draws a mix of retirees, expat families, and school groups. On weekend evenings in winter it fills with Kuwaiti families from across the governorate.

It is a low-key, unassuming place — there is no entrance fee, no grand monument, no particular attraction beyond the greenery itself. But that greenery, carefully maintained against the desert climate, is genuinely impressive and gives some sense of the investment KOC made in making Ahmadi a place worth living in.
