Ban Keosamphanh gives Pakse a softer edge: green rice fields, local lanes, and an older market rather than the traffic and guesthouses of the centre. The area also has traces of its past as a French army camp.
It is best for a slow wander or a short bicycle ride, especially if you want to see a more everyday side of Pakse. Go early if the market is your main reason for coming.
