A Malay buffet restaurant run by celebrity chef Datuk Chef Ismail, set in a glass-walled penthouse on the roof of a shopping complex in the southern KL suburb of Bangsar. The buffet runs at lunch and dinner and gathers up to fifty kampung-style Malay dishes from across the peninsula — beef rendang, ayam masak merah, gulai lemak, ulam (raw herbal salad), sambal belacan — alongside an unusually wide pull of traditional Malay desserts.
The cooking is more refined than the average buffet but the spirit is generous and the prices reasonable (around RM 80 a head). The skyline view across the Lake Gardens is a bonus. Reservations essential, especially during Ramadan when this is one of the most popular iftar (breaking-fast) destinations in the city.
