Yut Kee Restaurant

Hainanese kopitiam on Dang Wangi serving kaya toast, pork chops, and half-boiled eggs since 1928

A Hainanese coffee shop that has been serving the same handful of dishes since 1928, run by the same family for three generations. The signature is chicken chop — a Hainanese take on the Western pork or chicken cutlet, deep-fried, served with peas, chips, and a thick brown gravy — joined by Hainanese pork chop, roti babi (deep-fried bread with a pork-and-prawn filling), kaya toast, and strong coffee with condensed milk.

The original premises on Jalan Dang Wangi closed in 2015 after a rent dispute; the new spot on Jalan Kamunting is around the corner and almost identical inside, with the same marble-top tables, slow ceiling fans, and a regular crowd of older Chinese-Malaysian uncles. Cash only, queues likely at weekends. Closed Mondays.
