Perak has a classic equatorial climate — hot, humid and prone to afternoon thunderstorms year-round. There is no strict dry season but June–August and December–February are typically the driest months and the best for hiking and outdoor sights. The hill stations (Cameron Highlands, Bukit Larut) are comfortable any time of year, with day-time temperatures around 18–22°C.
The most distinctive seasonal event is the Royal Belum Rafflesia bloom, which can happen at any point in the year but is more reliable in March–May; trips into the park typically combine the flower with hornbill and elephant viewing. The annual Sultan of Perak's Birthday falls on the first Saturday of November and is a public holiday in the state, often marked with cultural events in Kuala Kangsar.
