Most visitors arrive at Kuching International Airport (KCH), with direct flights from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, and a handful of regional cities. Miri Airport (MYY) in the north handles direct flights from KL, Singapore, and Subang, and is the gateway to Niah, Mulu, and the Brunei border.
There are no road or rail connections to Peninsular Malaysia or Sabah; entry to Sarawak is by air or sea. The Brunei border at Sungai Tujoh is open to land crossings and is the practical route for travellers continuing east toward Sabah by road. Sarawak operates its own immigration regime — Malaysian visitors must clear a separate stamp on arrival.
