Things to Do

Sarawak is rainforest, caves, and longhouses. Bako on the coast and Semenggoh near Kuching are the easy wildlife introductions; Mulu in the interior is the hard one — vast cave systems, the Pinnacles ridge, and one of the more remarkable national parks anywhere. Add the Niah Caves' Palaeolithic burials, an overnight in an Iban longhouse on the Lemanak or Skrang, and a couple of days in the Kelabit Highlands of Bario, and you have a serious two-week itinerary. Sarawak rewards time and patience above all.
