The Monument to Marshal Georgy Zhukov is a Soviet-era history stop with a specifically Mongolian context. Zhukov is remembered here less for Berlin than for the 1939 fighting at Khalkhin Gol, where Soviet and Mongolian forces defeated the Japanese Kwantung Army.
The monument stands near the small Zhukov museum and is worth a short detour if you are following Ulaanbaatar's 20th-century layers. It is not one of the city's essential sights, but it adds useful Cold War and wartime texture.
