Eating Out

Most restaurants in Bagan are simple and cheap. Nyaung-U has the highest concentration of places to eat, with noodle shops lining the main road near the market — a bowl of mohinga or a plate of fried noodles costs around a dollar. The quality varies; go where the locals go and you will be fine.

Old Bagan has a handful of restaurants aimed at visitors, with slightly higher prices and more varied menus. The Aye Yar riverside restaurants offer views over the Ayeyarwady alongside their food, which makes them worth the extra cost for an evening meal.
