Eating Out

Pyay does not see many tourists, and the restaurant scene reflects that — options are limited but serviceable. Near the Ayeyarwady River, a handful of Chinese-run places serve basic meals. The restaurant at the Pyay Hotel is a step up in comfort if not always in flavour. For something more local, ask around for small Burmese tea shops and rice-and-curry joints near the market — these tend to offer the best value and the freshest food.
