A small modern building at the entrance to the Sri Ksetra site, the Archaeological Museum is the obvious first stop before exploring the ruins. The collection includes Pyu coins (silver disks stamped with rising-sun and srivatsa motifs), terracotta votive tablets, a set of large stone funerary urns with the names of Pyu kings, and Buddhist sculpture in the early Sarvastivada style.
Labels are in Burmese and English. An hour here gives essential context for what you are then looking at out in the fields — without the museum, the brick ruins are hard to interpret. The museum's caretakers will often arrange a motorcycle or pick-up to take you around the site for a small extra fee.
