19th Street Night Market

The street food strip on 19th Street in Chinatown is one of Yangon's most lively evening destinations. From about 6pm, vendors set up tables and chairs across the road, offering grilled skewers (beef, pork, seafood), Burmese noodle dishes, and cold Myanmar Beer. The street fills quickly and the atmosphere — smoke from the grills, chatter from multiple tables, the clatter of the city around it — is excellent.

The quality is consistently good and prices are very low. Point at what looks good from the grill trays; most vendors speak enough English to handle a basic order. Arrive before 8pm for the best selection. A full meal with several beers costs less than US$5.
