Yangon International Airport (RGN) handles all international flights to and from Myanmar. It lies about 19 km northwest of downtown. A taxi from the airport to central Yangon costs around US$8–12 and takes 30–45 minutes, depending on traffic. Agreed-rate prepaid taxis are available from the arrivals hall. Most international flights connect through Bangkok, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur.
There are no international rail connections. Bus services run to Mandalay (about 9 hours) and Bagan (12 hours overnight) from the Aung Mingalar Bus Terminal on the eastern edge of the city. Domestic flights to Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake, and other destinations are available from Yangon International Airport and are competitive in price with the buses.
