Hili Archaeological Park (UAE side)

The Hili Archaeological Park sits just inside the UAE, about ten minutes from central Buraimi. It contains the most important Bronze Age archaeological remains in the United Arab Emirates — most strikingly the Great Hili Tomb, a circular stone-faced burial chamber of around 4,500 years ago, with carved reliefs of figures around its entrance.

Several other tombs, settlement remains, and a small site museum complete the visit. The whole is set in a public park with shade and benches, so it works well as an early-morning visit before the heat. Part of the Al Ain cultural landscape inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

A story
The circular tomb at the centre of Hili was built around 2,500 BCE during the Umm an-Nar culture, contemporary with the early Egyptian dynasties. The carved stone reliefs of human and animal figures on the entrance are among the earliest figurative art in the Arabian peninsula.
