Kumzar is one of Musandam's most remote inhabited places, tucked near the strait where Oman almost touches Iran. Travellers usually reach it by boat from Khasab, passing the steep khors and bare limestone slopes that make the peninsula feel so different from the rest of Oman.
This is not a casual drop-in village. Access depends on boat arrangements, weather, and local permission, and visitors should treat it as a living community rather than a spectacle. The reason to go is the journey, the geography, and the rare chance to see how settlement works at the edge of the strait.
