One of the oldest marketplaces in the Arab world, the Mutrah Souk is a covered warren of narrow lanes just behind the Mutrah Corniche. Frankincense, silver Bedouin jewellery, pashminas, hand-woven textiles, spices, and khanjars (the curved Omani daggers) fill the stalls. Most shopkeepers speak English; haggling is standard and expected. Go in the late afternoon when the heat has dropped and the souk is busiest.
