National Museum of Oman

Flagship museum covering Oman from prehistory to present

Oman's flagship museum, opposite Al Alam Palace in Old Muscat. Opened in 2016, it covers the country's history from prehistory through to the modern Sultanate across fourteen permanent galleries — prehistoric archaeology, the Land of Frankincense trade routes, maritime history, and the Al Busaid dynasty. Bilingual Arabic–English throughout, with well-captioned exhibits and an excellent collection of silver jewellery, manuscripts, and weaponry.
