Qasbar Fort

Qasbar Fort is a ruined hilltop fort east of Salalah, reached by a rough path from the dirt road below. The remains are modest, but the position gives broad views over the surrounding Dhofar landscape and makes the short hike feel worthwhile.

The site has been linked to the Sumhuram period, later Portuguese occupation, and the Dhofar Rebellion, though it has not been fully excavated. Go in the dry season and wear closed shoes; the area is known for snakes.
