Sallan Beach

Sallan Beach stretches north from the town centre along the Batinah coast — a broad, flat expanse of pale sand backed by a narrow belt of date palms, with the Al Hajar mountains visible on the inland horizon. The beach is clean and uncrowded on weekdays, and the water is warm enough to swim in from March through November. This is where Sohar's residents come to walk in the evenings and picnic on Fridays.

Dolphins are regularly sighted offshore from the beach, and the Batinah coast is one of the few remaining turtle nesting beaches in Oman — green and loggerhead turtles come ashore at night from June to September. The beach is accessible by taxi from the town centre. There are no facilities — bring water and sunscreen.
