The Batinah coast around Sohar has clean, flat beaches backed by date palms. Sallan Beach, northwest of the town centre, is the most accessible for visitors — broad, uncrowded outside weekends, and with views along the coast. The sea is warm from April onward. Turtle nesting occurs on beaches along this stretch of the Batinah coast, and dolphins are regularly sighted on boat trips. The industrial port is to the south; the northern beaches are the cleaner option.
