Sohar is 200 km north of Muscat on the E11 expressway — a straightforward 2-hour drive. From the UAE border at Wajajah it is 80 km south (about 45 minutes). There is no commercial airport in Sohar; the nearest airports are Muscat International and Dubai International. ONTC buses run between Muscat and Sohar (and on to the UAE border) several times daily; the journey from Muscat takes around 2.5 hours. Most travellers arrive by private car or rental.
