One of the last traditional wooden boat-building yards still operating in the Arab world. The craftsmen here build and repair the distinctive Sur dhow — the same design that once sailed trade routes to East Africa and India — using techniques passed down over generations, with few power tools. You can usually walk through and watch the work in progress; a few words of Arabic or a respectful manner goes a long way.
