Clock Tower

The Clock Tower — known locally as Ghanta Ghar and originally the Northbrook Tower — stands on the Old Civil Bazaar at the western edge of the walled city. It was built by the British in 1884 on the site of an older Hindu temple destroyed during the 1848–49 siege, and today serves as the headquarters of the Multan municipal corporation. The tower itself is a tall red-brick Victorian construction, plain by Multani standards but a useful landmark: from its base you can see the great domes of Shah Rukn-e-Alam and Bahauddin Zakariya rising over the old town.

The square around it is a busy bus and cart junction and a natural starting point for walking the bazaars. The interior of the building is normally closed to the public.
