Multan International Airport sits about five kilometres west of the city and handles domestic flights from Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad as well as direct international flights to Dubai, Sharjah, Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh and a handful of other Gulf destinations. Pakistan International Airlines, Air Sial and FlyDubai are the main carriers. A taxi from the airport into the Cantonment costs around Rs 800–1000.
By rail, the Khanewal–Multan line runs the principal Karachi–Peshawar service via Multan Cantonment and Multan City stations. The most useful train for visitors is the Tezgam Express (Karachi–Rawalpindi), which stops at Multan Cantt at convenient times in both directions, and the daytime Greenline to Lahore (four hours). By road, the M-4 motorway has made Lahore a four-hour drive; Karachi is a hard 14-hour run on the M-5. Daewoo Express coaches run hourly to most major cities.
