The Monastery of St. Theodosius, also called Deir Dosi, stands east of Bethlehem in the desert-edge country associated with early Christian monasticism. Tradition links the site to the place where the Magi rested on their way back from Bethlehem.
The monastery has roots in the late 5th or early 6th century, though the present complex reflects later rebuilding. It is a quieter stop than Bethlehem's central churches, but worthwhile if you are tracing the older Christian sites scattered around the town.
