St. Elias Monastery is an ancient Orthodox Christian monastery on the road between Jerusalem and Bethlehem. It stands on the remains of a Byzantine church and has long been part of the pilgrimage landscape around Bethlehem.
The monastery is worth a short stop for its setting and religious history, especially when travelling between Bethlehem and southern Jerusalem.
