The BenCab Museum opened in 2009 on a hillside about 6 km west of central Baguio, the personal museum of National Artist Benedicto "BenCab" Cabrera. The clean modernist structure cascades down the slope in tiers, each holding a different gallery: BenCab's own paintings (mostly Filipina figures in his familiar muted palette), his collection of indigenous Cordilleran wood carvings, contemporary Filipino art, and rotating temporary shows.
The museum opens onto an organic farm and forest sanctuary planted by the artist himself over the past two decades. Walking paths drop down to a lily pond and an old Ifugao rice granary moved from the mountains; the views across the forested valley are spectacular. The Café Sabel on site does an excellent lunch using vegetables from the farm.
Closed Mondays. Take a taxi from the city — about 20 minutes — and ask the driver to wait or arrange Grab back.
