A narrow, pine-shaded park on a high ridge, Wright Park is named for Luke Wright, the second US governor-general of the Philippines. The centerpiece is the Pool of Pines — a long rectangular reflecting pool with rows of pine trees marching down each side and a small bandstand at the far end. The composition is severely formal, almost monastic in its simplicity, and is one of Baguio's most photographed spots.
A wooden staircase at the eastern end leads down to the Horseback Riding Circle, an area filled with horses and ponies (and their handlers) waiting for tourists. A short guided ride along a pine track is a long-standing Baguio tradition — Filipino families bring children here on every visit. Negotiate the price before getting on; pay double if you want to keep the horse for longer.
The park is just below the Mansion House and an easy walk to the latter's gate.
