Tagbilaran's own sights are modest, but the surrounding area of Bohol rewards exploration. The Blood Compact Monument in Bool (3 km east) marks the 1565 treaty between Spain and the local chief Sikatuna. A short drive east brings you to the Baclayon Church, the oldest church in Bohol. North of town, Punta Cruz Watchtower and the Loon Church make a good half-day circuit. The famous Chocolate Hills are about 55 km from town — most visitors go by motorbike or rented scooter.
