Gen. Trias

Cavite city south of Manila, tied to revolutionary history at San Francisco de Malabon church

Gen. Trias is a city in Cavite province, just south of Metro Manila on the Cavite mainland. It sits along the main road south from the capital and has grown rapidly as part of the wider Metro Manila urban sprawl. The city has a mix of residential subdivisions, commercial areas, and some light industrial zones. For travelers, Gen. Trias is primarily a pass-through point on the way to Tagaytay or other Cavite destinations, though the San Francisco de Malabon Parish Church and its museum make a worthwhile stop for anyone interested in the province's revolutionary history.

The church — one of the oldest in Cavite province — gave the city its original name and has deep connections to the 1898 Philippine Declaration of Independence. Outside the historic centre, Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club is one of the largest and most varied golf complexes in the country, spread across 700 hectares of rolling hills. The nearby towns of Imus and Kawit have additional colonial-era heritage worth exploring.
