El Ideal, attached to the Cesar Lacson Locsin Ancestral House, is both bakery and light restaurant. The kitchen serves Filipino breakfast standards — arroz caldo, champorado, and pandesal — along with its famous house pastries. For lunch there are simple rice-and-ulam (rice-and-main-dish) plates using local ingredients.
The dining room preserves the character of an old Silaynon house, with wooden floors and high ceilings. It is unpretentious and popular with locals as well as with the trickle of heritage tourists. Come for breakfast before walking the heritage district while it is still cool; the ensaimadas here are as good as anything you will find in the Visayas.
